Chinese Enterprises Have Been Awarded the "Compliance and Tax Contribution Special Award" by Ethiopia. Zhang Huarong Expressed Views on the "Five Commitments" to Uphold.

On October 20th, in the Ethiopian capital - Addis Ababa, President Sahlework Zewde presented the "Compliance and Tax Contribution Special Award" to Huajian International Light Industry City, a Chinese enterprise, to applaud its positive contributions to the economic development and construction of a rule-of-law society in Ethiopia.

It is noted that the Ethiopian government honored over 400 outstanding taxpayer enterprises. Among them, Huajian International Light Industry City, a subsidiary of Huajian Group, received the "Compliance and Tax Contribution Special Award," a distinguished accolade in this recognition event. Ethiopia specifically emphasized that Huajian International Light Industry City has set an exemplary standard for the country's taxation endeavors.

Zhang Huarong, Chairman of Huajian Group introduced that the company has maintained five operational principles during its over a decade of investment in Ethiopia: compliance with local laws and regulations, operating legally and ethically, refraining from bribery, staying apolitical, and caring for the growth of local employees. These principles have garnered widespread acclaim from Ethiopian employees and relevant partners.

Established in 1996 and headquartered in Dongguan, Guangdong Province, Huajian Group manufactures over 20 million pairs of women's shoes annually, exerting a significant influence in the global footwear industry. In November 2011, in response to the national "Going Global" strategy, the company invested in and established "Huajian International Shoe City/Ethiopia Plc" In Setember 2013, echoing the BRI, Huajian Group further invested in and established "Huajian International Light Industry City /Ethiopia Plc" actively participating in the construction of the "Belt and Road" through tangible actions and promoting China-Africa friendly cooperation. The Huajian International Light Industry City project, located in the central area of Addis Ababa, the capital of Ethiopia, has invested over USD120 million, covering an area of over 170,000 square meters. It has provided employment for over 8,000 local employees and accumulated export earnings of USD183 million.
